Hello, I was wondering what models I should look for as a beginner. I intend to acquire a 125cc motorbike for now, to learn on and to get the general feel of riding. A bike with manual transmission would be good as it will help me gain clutch experience. I won't be doing long distances - probably around 10 miles a day.
So, what are your recommendations?
Thanks in advanceWhat would be a good beginner bikes?
Any of the following are good, dependable starter bikes.
Honda CB-125.
Honda CG-125.
Honda CM-125.
Honda VT-125.
Suzuki GS-125
Suzuki VL-125.
Yamaha SR-125.
Yamaha XV-125.
Whilst 2-strokes and trail bikes have their place, they probably aren't right for your needs. What would be a good beginner bikes?
I prefer older bikes. They're cheaper, they look better and you know they work because they've got 20 years of history to look at. Just make sure you get an experienced rider to check it out before you buy it.
Unless you're very small or very nervous, don't bother with 125cc. You'll be bored with it in a week. Start at at least 250, and don't be afraid of anything up to 500 if you like the bike.
Look online for 80's Yamahas and Suzukis. There's tons of them out there and they sell cheap. And the fact that they're still being ridden today is a good sign. How many 2009 Ninja 250's do you think are going to be on the road in 2030?
Honda CG125 if you can find one. Absolutely brilliant bikes: totally reliable, easy to ride, fantastic on fuel and good to own.
Yamaha YBR125 is a good one as well as the CG125.
Better to learn on a ';normal'; sit up bike not a sports lying down one.
dont get something with that small of an engine it won't be safe in traffic. look at a 500cc. the best bike would be something you can afford insuance and the bike itself.
One with stabilisers
Maybe a BMX !
