I start planning to go to the gym, but many people told me to buy a lot of protein powder, Vitamins, Recovery Enhancer, Amino Acids, Glutamine and many others. What do I really need?Bodybuilding Beginner Needs?
Hey bud.
1.Enable to get BIG(build muscle mass) you have to eat big! Bottom line!
you have to consume enough calories, and about 1gram of protein per body lb. you way.So if you way 150 lbs, consume 150grams of protein per day.
2. SLEEP.. Muscle builds when you are sleeping, not when your in the gym. Get atleast 8 hours of sleep per night.
3. Lift Heavy weights. Heavy weights = more mass....Lighter weights=more ripped and toned.
4. Stay DEDICATED to your workout plan. Otherwise you will never gain muscle mass, It takes time but after you stick to it, in a few months you will see awesome gains and will want to keep going!
......
Dont let people tell you that you NEED supplements to gain muscle....
For example..
The people in jail get HUGE, and they dont have bodybuilding supplements, they eat only 3 meals per day.
Supplements only help you build muscle a LITTLE faster. But there not required to build muscle. ( I only use Protein shake's).
Supplement's are expensive and not really worth it.
The only supplement thats really good is Whey Protein.Bodybuilding Beginner Needs?
friend,
You listen to your body and do the work out. What I suggest is initially you please do not take any so called supplements. You rely on natural protein for period of three months and see the developments in your body. After that you can decide yourself whether u have to go for supplements or not.
However, the usage of creatine will give you a lot of side effects in the long run. The only supplement what I can advise from my personal experience is pure whey protein.
So, go ahead with natural proteins like Milk, Egg (preferably not to take yolk), Pulses, green pease etc.
Plan your work out with the combination of resistance training, stretches and cardios.
Good luck.
To start off just make sure u eat right. Now in terms of supplement use.... protein powders are a must use supplement, especially the ones that contain enough BCAA( branch chain amino acid), for example, Optimum Nutrition 100% WHEY PROTIEN, you can use Muslce Milk which has lots of protien and a good amount of glutamine. Multi vitamins u do need to consume every day... I reccommend you try Mega Men Sports from GNC. They are pretty good... they contain amino acids and of course your daily recommended value of vitamins....
Head down to a local GNC store and try to get these stuff.. products such as creatine, helps speed up recovery and mainly help give u strength and bulkness.. look for products that contain arginine. Arginine helps blood circulate better through your veins since it provides nitrogen oxide. It will help u look pumped and provide you with enough energy and strength.
Product recommendation:
*Optimum Nutrition 100% Whey Protein, Muslce Milk or Probolic-SR Protein
*Mega Men Sports
*Cell-Tech from Muslce Tech (Creatine) or Size On from Gaspari (both taste like s**t but work real good
*Nano X9 from Muscle Tech (Ariginine) or NO-Xplode from BSN
All these u can find at ur local GNC store.
Good luck...
South Beach Fitness Trainer has given an excellent answer. but i would say a couple of things. inmates get big without eating loads cos they make up for it with large amounts of rest that is totally impractical outside of jail. also there is no such thing as a 'toned' muscle, the appearance of the 'toned' look is simply a large muscle under very little fat. and doing high reps with low weights will not achieve this. a muscle can grow, it can shrink or it can stay the same. you can't make it harder or softer. that is simply a result of body fat.
having said that everything else that South Beach said is good advice. I myself only use protein powders.
But, if i may, let me help you out a bit more (cos i'm such a nice guy) Can i be so bald as to presume that you want to workout cos your skinny? Let me point you in the direction of a tried and tested workout program designed specifically for skinny guys:

it was developed by the West-side power-lifting group who are world renowned leaders in developing strength and muscle mass. you wont go far wrong with that program.
good luck
