YES. FIrst, read some books on it. My advice to start is a great book, probably available at your local library, called ';Don't Make Me Think';... it's a great book on how users look at websites and what they need and want. If you learn the basics of the OBJECTIVE of the website, then whatever you do will be successful. Success in webdesign is not measured in how much glitch you produce, but on whether people using the site find it useful. Don't worry about the tekkie stuff, it will follow. :)
